The complexities of Neymar’s transfer deal from Santos to Barcelona continue to rage on with Spanish authorities calling on the Brazilian footballer to face charges of fraud over his move to La Liga.

The problems stem from Barcelona originally claiming the fee to sign the forward in 2013 was 57 million before later admitting it was closer to 80 million with then president of the club Sandro Rosell having to resign over the issue.

Brazilian investment group DIS have made a complaint over the amount of money they are due from the transfer. The company owned 40% of the player’s economic rights and are arguing that the USD $6.8 million they received was too low.

Spanish news agency EFE are reporting that prosecutor Jose Perals has asked for a judge to call Neymar, his father and Rosell to court to face charges for fraud relating to the transfer.

Rosell and Neymar Snr both talked about the complexities of the deal in court during a hearing back in February relating to the transfer but denied anything illegal in the deal.

Speaking about the legal issues back in February and the claim of wrongdoings by his father the player said, “When you see the person you love being attacked, suffering, people saying things which are not true… then it hurts you. Before speaking without knowledge, telling lies, you must present proof.”

The 24 year-old is the third Barcelona player to have legal issues with Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano’s tax evasion cases ongoing.
