Denis Glushakov’s late goal earned Russia a 1-1 draw with England in their Euro 2016 opener on Saturday.

Roy Hodgson’s men turned in a free-flowing performance in Marseille, often dominating their Group B opponents, but had to wait until the 73rd minute to open the scoring, as Tottenham midfielder Dier rifled a 20-yard drive into the top corner.

England missed a number of opportunities throughout the game to add a degree of comfort to the scoreline, and Russia made them pay in injury time; Glushakov scoring with only a minute to go.

England’s players subsequently sunk to the turf at the final whistle, aware that they will have to beat Wales on Thursday if they are to have hope of finishing top of the group.
