Former Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes has joined newly promoted side Middlesbrough. This might be one of the best signings of the summer.

The Spanish goalkeeper has had a pretty tough time of things in the last two years, getting injured at Barcelona just before his release from the club before failing to make it at Old Trafford.

He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Standard Liege but will be back in the Premier League with the north east side this season.

Boro will be back in the Premier League for the first time since 2008 after finishing second in the Championship under Aitor Karanka.

The former Champions League winner will be signing for the Riverside club on a free after his contract at Manchester United ended with him only making two appearances for the Red Devils and being forced to train on his own under Louis van Gaal.
